Learning French numbers from 1 to 100

To learn numbers in French, it is best to start by memorizing numbers 1 to 16 and all words describing 'tens' (twenty, thirty, forty, etc.). These words all form the basic foundation for counting up to 100. Once you hit 80, you will run into an interesting new pattern. Instead of having one word to describe the number '80', the French language uses '4 20' to describe four different sets of 20s making up the number.
